Here are some quick answers for commonly asked questions!
Can we book the cabin just for a couple of days? The cabin is offered Saturday-Saturday. The only exceptions are last minute cancellations.
What is provided? The cabin comes with bedding, blankets, pillows, dishes, appliances, washing machine, clothes line, towels, furniture, patio set, out door bench, dock, and a lake! You will need to bring food, beverages, toiletries, and yourself!
What is there to do for entertainment? If the lake isn't enough to keep you busy the Ruthven and Lost Island area is located near many options for fun. Spencer, which is a short drive boasts large parks, an aquatic center, skateboard park, shopping mall, golf course, large Movie plex, Walmart, lots of restaraunts, and Fast food options.
Emmetsburg located 15 minutes east has chinese, mexican, and irish food eateries, a $5 movie theatre, quaint shops for shopping, and the Wild Rose Casino which hosts concerts, buffet, and pub.
Ruthven has a gas station with dvd rentals and the best soft serve ice cream (it is famous). The public library is very well stocked and also lends DVD's and computer games. Ruthven has a Massage therapist, Chiropractor, Crafts and Gift store, Pool, and Park with Basketball court. In Ruthven you will find the Highway Cafe open for breakfast and lunch with home cooked specials and fast food options. Bully's Bar & Grill is open afternoons and serves evening meals of everything from Broasted Chicken, Steaks, and deliciously cheese smothered pizzas eat in or order to-go by phone.
On the lake you will find the The Lost Island Corner Store, home cooking and great burgers.
The Nature Center and Beach are located just minutes from the cabin with exhibits, classes,and nature trails as well as a brand new bike trail.
Is there a deposit? Yes, half of the fee is due at the time of the reservation and the second half is due 2 weeks before your stay. Cancellations 6 weeks prior to stay will get a full refund. Cancellations less than 6 weeks will be a loss of your deposit. If the second half of your deposit does not arrive on time it may result in a termination of your reservations. Must be 25 years of age to make a reservation.
Is there any general rules? Yes, Quiet hours are 11 PM - 7 AM, seven days a week. All pets must be on a leash. Owners are responsible for sanitary disposal of pet waste. Minors must be supervised by someone 21 years old or older while occupying campground. No drugs, drug paraphernalia, firearms, weapons or illegal activities will be tolerated. All offenders will be prosecuted.
